Matthew Denman is a guitarist, teacher, and composer based in Oklahoma City. He directs award winning guitar programs at Oklahoma City’s Classen School of Advanced Studies, Southern Nazarene University, and this year he will be directing the OU guitar ensemble. Matthew’s students have won a number of national awards, including top marks from the University of Texas’ Guitar Ensemble Competition, the UT Dallas Youth Division Competition, and the O’haire competition this year alone. In October of 2011 Classen SAS will be playing at Austin City Limits for Austin Pictures.
Matthew’s personal awards and accolades are numerous, and for the 2010-2011 year he has been named Teacher of the Year for Classen School of Advanced Studies. Other awards include the 2008 and 2010 Images of Excellence award. Matthew is a student of the legendary Pepe Romero and this year is the coordinator of the Celedonio Romero Guitar Institute.
This year Matthew will debut his first solo classical guitar recording 728b which is a celebration of mainstream and obscure hymnody.
